LITHIUM-ION BATTERIES (LIB)<\/span><\/span><\/h2>

Lithium-ion batteries (LIBs) have enabled the development of personal electronic devices, electric vehicles, and energy storage and backup systems that keep data centres hosting the cloud and the entire Internet running. Although LIBs are considered the main driver of green transport in the future, the truth is that the LIB production process is far from environmentally friendly.<\/p>\n

SONAGRE’s LIB projects industrialise on a large scale the success of processes developed by university laboratories funded by partner companies and\/or subsidiaries, enabling the production of LIBs using processed components from other LIBs as raw materials. SONAGRE’s LIB will be certified as a Circular Economy Product in accordance with UNECE principles.<\/p>\n

SONAGRE’s LIBs will be \u2018SOLID STATE\u2019, using Lithium-Sulphur-Graphite and Nitrogen technology, with the doping of the solid sulphur electrolyte with Nitrogen atoms being essential, which stabilises the interface with the lithium and reduces reactions that damage durability, In addition, this results in safer LIBs with a lower risk of overheating and a longer service life.<\/p>\n

The energy density of the LIBs will be 500 Wh\/kg, with a range of storage capacities for SONAGRE’s LIBs based on modules weighing a maximum of 600 kg, between 100 KWh and 300 KWh, which will allow for a range of 3,000 km when used in automobiles.<\/p>\n

The first LIBs will leave SONAGRE’s manufacturing modules in January 2027, although the chargers that will allow a recharge from 10% to 80% in less than five minutes will not be developed by the I+D+IA department (Research, Development, and Artificial Intelligence) until the end of 2027.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>

Sonagre LIB I+D+IA Module<\/span><\/span><\/h2>

As complement of Giga Factory LIB Mar STROG, SONAGRE’s Technical Team has designed the I+D+IA Module (IDM) that will allow that manufacture of LIB begin before the Giga Factory will be finished and operational.<\/p>\n

In the first step, the IDM will be used for the processing of raw materials and also for manufacturing of LIB. This module will function as a pilot for construction and immediate operation and also is located in the municipality of Los Barrios (C\u00e1diz). The facility, with a floor area of 40,219 m2, is divided into three zones:<\/p>\n

  1. Raw material processing area: with three production lines occupying a total of 11,440 m2<\/sup> and a height of 20 m.<\/li>\n
  2. Cell manufacturing and activation area: distributed over two floors with a surface area of 20,109 m2<\/sup>.<\/li>\n
  3. Battery assembly area: includes chassis manufacturing and occupies 8,670 m2 with a height of 20 m.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    The IDM design also includes a refrigerated container beach to ensure storage capacity for one year of production in three shifts at the IDM. This amounts to approximately 2,200 45-foot HCRF containers, representing around 30,000 m2 at TC3. The refrigerated Reefers warehouse is located on a plot of land close to the previous one, in the municipality of Los Barrios.<\/p>\n

    With three work shifts, the IDM produces 88,000<\/strong> LIB per year, equivalent to 52,800 tons of LIB weighing 600 kg.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>
